Entourage is a popular email application for the Apple Mac. Use this guide to help you set it up on a Mac running OS X 10.4.
Setting up Entourage (using the Account Setup Wizard)
- Open Entourage by double-clicking the Entourage application icon in the Applications folder, or clicking it in the 'Dock'.
- From the Tools menu, select Accounts, that brings up the Accounts window. Click New and select Mail.
Entourage > Accounts > Mail - Next, enter your full name. This is what will appear in the 'From' line of the emails you send to people. Click the next arrow in the bottom right of the window.
- Enter your email address. This usually takes the form:
mailbox_name@domain.com - Choose POP as your mail server type. Enter the incoming and outgoing servers as shown:
Incoming (POP3) Mail Server: mail.domainname.com (eg. mail.webtechnepal.com)
Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server: mail.ispname.com (e.g. mail.wlink.com.np)
Click the next arrow.

- Enter your account username and password. Note that these are case sensitive.
Mail > Account Setup Assistant > Username and password - Enter an account name. This can be anything, it is required to distinguish multiple email accounts you might set up in Entourage. Click Finish.

Changing account settings
- From the Tools menu, select Accounts, that brings up the Accounts window. Click Mail. Double click on the account you wish to change.

Setting up Mail Rules
- Click Tools, Click Rules.
Entourage > Tools > Rules - Click New.
- In the If box type in [-SPAM-]. This is the subject tag that PlusNet uses to identify suspected junk/spam emails.
- Under the Then section, add the Action 'move message' and select Choose folder... from the first drop down menu.
- Next, click New Folder.
- Name the new folder SPAM. Click Create.
- Highlight the new SPAM folder and click Choose.
- Close the Edit Rule window by clicking OK.
- Your basic spam filtering is now enabled. Unwanted emails may still be delivered to your Inbox as no anti-spam system is 100% successful. You can create additional rules to deal with any unwanted emails that still get through.
